  • Music :The cheapest airline

Ever found yourself swinging to the tunes and swifting out of a bad day, all without intention and concious effort? That’s the power of music and rhythm.

In a jiffy, one can travel back in time. Some music gets ingrained in the cerebral cortex and brings back the memories associated with the lyrics. & In the era of zillions of OTT, this doens’t happen with moving imagery on the screen.

Sometimes one can go into the future too with music. Some lyrics uplift us, inspire us to dream and look forward to a brighter future. Giving one the hope to hope and stay on. β™₯️

  • In all her glory

There is no dearth of strong ladies around me.

The ones now living life on own terms but having come out of bad relationship in the past.

The ones stuck in sanguine relationship yet financially dependent on someone else.

The single ready to mingle kinds who battle societal pressure everyday.

The ones in a fulfilling relationship but striving to build an identity outside it.

The ones having lived their lives fulfillingly and now asking almighty for an end.

The ones who put their best foot forward everyday for their kids, despite being looked down upon.

Tons of females out there who fit this description. But a handful have given me a sneak peek into their lives. Displaying resilience and fortitude, working towards their goal laboriously. Every interaction leaves me inspired and awed; often motivating me to take a balanced view of my own life.

  • Other side of the rainbow

Be or don’t be, say or don’t say,

    The wait continues another day.

I cry when I think of you,

when I cry, all I think is you.

I shall always be yours and you mine,

One day, someday, when we can turn back time.

I don’t feel ill for what you got or built,

Neither do I vie for it, no guilt.

Cos what we had, shall be forever

Etched in our lives whenever, wherever.

Longing in pain, silence or loneliness,

Yet sailing through life’s myriad of happiness.

I get you – you get me, like no one else,

& that’s not something only in the past tense.

Wish I could share how I feel,

It’s heart wrenching to keep lips forever sealed.

Poetic or not, now my memories are full of you,

Hoping against hope, isn’t that dead optimistic too.

Cos ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone,

With me holding on to the pieces of my heart all torn.

  • To all the men I have known!

    Curious and bubbling.

    Sanguine and ambitious.

    Laborious and orthodox.

    Street-smart and sensitive.

    Witty and commited.

    Intellectual and poker-faced.

Some came and left. Some came and never left. Wherever you are – there is definitely something I picked up from our interactions and it’s going to stay with me forever.

I believe men are a fabulous species to learn from. Tough outside, gentle inside. They are a lovable breed but from Mars indeed!

  • Robot, please clean my home!

Robotic vacuum cleaner is the best thing to happen to (wo)mankind after washing machines, dishwashers!

There are two types available : with suction and sweeping & with suction, sweeping and (wet) mopping. Robots can manoeuver around furniture, vaccum efficiently and go back to a charging dock automatically when discharged or finished cleaning the mapped area. A fully charged robot can clean for about 2 hours. Agree that it does take a long time to clean the house so the key is to put it on and forget about it while you do other things.

All you need to do is to empty the dust pan after every use. Before vaccuming, ensure no loose wires are on the floor or carpet/rug tussles are left loose as the robot can get entangled in them. Also the vaccum suction is powerful so small toys like Lego blocks, hair ties, Barbie’s shoes etc need be cleared away than be sucked in by vaccum and thrown by you into your dustbin!

If you buy the one with sweeping and suction then mopping becomes a breeze. If you buy one with the mopping function, then your end to end cleaning is outsourced! They are amazing as they will mop along with sweeping and suction.

So do you never have to clean your hand by own hand again? Not really, afterall human eyes and hands so get to corners where robots dont. So you might need to manually clean once a week, behind doors, in the corners etc. And that should do the trick, so get your pick at your price range and be ready to be welcome to a clean neat home!

  • Bestie

Who’s your best friend mommy? Asked my 7 year old kiddo. This isn’t the first time she’s asked this. I would usually answer you or daddy. But now she wants ‘someone not from the family’ for an answer. And starts rattling off the names she knows – my colleagues, neighbours, my gym buddies, my girl-friends I catch up with.

Sadly my bestie isn’t know to her. She doesn’t stay in town nor do we meet even once a year. We are both busy adulting; navigating family, career and kids. But when we pause and chat, we talk and we talk like we were talking just yesterday. And yet we know each other like most won’t and got each other’s back, always. If there is one person I know who keeps me in her prayer – thats my girl!

So you are lucky if you have yours right in town. Hold on tight to that buddy of yours!

  • First Love Yourself

Humans are social beings. But being social is often mistaken to being dependent.

A self-reliant and self-assured person can make better connections with others. Connections that meaningfully resonate, last a lifetime and are fulfilling to both parties.

In a nutshell be thy best friend and companion – no one’s coming to rescue you.

  • (Un) Social Butterfly

    There are the social butterflies.

    There are the anti-social loners.

And then there are unsocial beings, who crave to be both but are neither.

They enjoy company in discrete doses but also adore solitude in measured quantities.

They are not the heart of the party nor the sore thumb sitting in a dark corner.

They blend in and blend out with ease. Choosing to flutter, choosing to go into the cocoon – all by their own will and might 😎

  • Lazy faire

Lazy are the people who have enormous energy and ambition. It’s just that they channelize it just right. Precise utilization actually makes them more effective and efficient than most others. These spurts of productivity leave others with amazement.

So now you know how that GenZ employee brought in the brilliant idea at the eleventh hour or how that pot-bellied, 9-5 routine following middle aged accountant cracked the formulae just in time for the CFO review. Laziness can lead to accidental greatness πŸ˜‰

  • Empaths

Empathy is quite a buzzword for leadership. Does it mean being sensitive and warm rather than uptight and cold? Would too much empathy be mistaken for meekness and indecisiveness?

The gift of empathy tends to make one emotional but the lack of it is worse as it makes one mechanical. So make small talk, check on an ailing colleague, loop back on the favor you promised – let empathy complement your talents and skills. Afterall people matter πŸ™‚
