  • Alone, and not lonely

Yes there is a difference. & It’s not mere word play. Learn to enjoy the company of the most reliant, always available soul i.e. yourself and trust me, you’ll never feel lonely.

Not being selfless doesn’t mean being selfish. There is an in between path too. It is one where everyone is equally important, no more, no less. Where everyone is entitled to exercise their choice, experience their freedom, love their dreams and guard their happiness. After all there is ample space for everyone in this universe, so if u can’t find some room for yourself,  nudge and make way buddy. You deserve it, have no doubt.

Lastly, remember when no one’s around and you find yourself at loss of company, be sad not. This is the best time to go fulfill your bucket list. No better company than yourself would ever exist. So go ahead and aim for stars. Even if you miss, you’ll land at least on the moon. And that would be the silver lining of your dark cloud.

I can do it alone. I must and I will. Make it your anthem, go make the most of your time on earth. 💪

  • Navras – the realm of emotions

Emotions, root emovere. A latin word which means movement. So emotions equal movement, what makes you act. Feelings that make you do what you do.

And then there are all the labels we use for emotions – positive, negative, catastrophic, euphoric. Its unfair to label our emotions. They are at most  intense, calm, pleasant or unpleasant. It’s what you do basis these emotions which make for a positive or a negative outcome.

But bear in mind that all emotions are welcome, all behaviours aren’t. It’s like looking at a dashboard – where emotions are the insights. They are signals waiting to be interpreted and not problems waiting to be solved.

Feelings come and go like waves in the ocean. They say time and tide wait for none. And emotions, well,  they knock on our doors every moment we are alive.

So don’t be ashamed of what you feel. Stay unabashedly true to what you feel. But make sure what you do after reflects your journey as an individual.

  • Emotional intelligence

Does that title even make sense? It’s like two opposite words put together. We would like to think we humans are rational logical thinking animals; but pause and think, doesn’t everything start with a tiny seed called emotion?

Emotional intelligence is something we all are wired with. Some are highly sensitive to it while others not as much. Thus emotional intelligence is the ability to recognize and understand emotions. Firstly your own and then those of others. Using this level of awareness to manage behavior and outcomes makes navigating life easier.

Self awareness ie , motivation, regulation for self. Others Empathy and social skills with others

As a first step it may just help to identify what triggers this emotion in me? Is it an event, a situation or a person? Is there a pattern or common identifier which I can then start pre-empting.

The second essential question to know is what emotions do I feel? Am I able to give it the right title or I tend to label everything as stress.

    Pause. Reflect. Act.

  • Just keep the love

Love struck or love lost, whatever your state of mind,

Remember you own it, it’s you first so be kinder of kind.

You do you but do me a favour, just keep the love.

Like a kid, always riding high with zeal & joy,

Not to be bogged down by a lost toy.

You do you but do me a favour, just keep the love.

Some would walk in, some would walk out,

But life shall go on, have zero doubt.

You do you but do me a favour, just keep the love.

After all it begins and ends with you, yourself,

Thereby highs or lows, be the best version of yourself.

You do you but do me a favour, just keep the love.

  • Vacation-land

Dreamy, idle, stress free. A world of dreams and fantasy. Where you are not bound by your daily routine, 9-5 day job, household chores and adult responsibilities. In short vacations, short or long, exotic or mundane transport you to a La la land.

The place where you can be ‘not you’. The place where you can be ‘what you wish to be when free from worldly ties’. The place where you can visualise, talk, behave and live the life of your dreams. Where you can unburden yourself and live the fantasy life you desire.

As all dreams come to a beautiful end, so does the vacation. Cut to reality, back to the daily grind, your land of work and living; filled with the daily calendar and numerous commitments of an adult life. Good morning 🌞

  • Ebb and flow

Disappointed by the way your interaction with friend/colleague/neighbour/partner turned out? Feeling sore? Wondering if you did something wrong or they didn’t get you?

We have all been there, done that, haven’t we. Spent hours of time and loads of energy analyzing (sometimes over analyzing). What went wrong, what could you have done differently, what can you still do to salvage the situation?

Cut to the chase, we can view each action as a wave in the ocean. These actions come and go in our life, hitting us differently each time. Just like no two waves are similar, your and the other person’s actions during an interaction may not be similar. Or of the same intensity or even complementary to each other. You may be riding a high, and them a low. Or vice versa. Just bearing in mind that these waves are not permanent and lasting, makes us more accepting and less anxious as an individual.

After all each of us are on our unique journeys, some ahead, some behind. Some nearing one milestone of life and others at another crossroad. The best part is that we are all beings of the same ocean, shall meet here and there. One day, some day.

  • Being human

To be human is to ‘be’ and not to be ‘done’. So there may never be a perfect you, because you would always be a ‘work in progress’.

And that’s great news! As everyday you are a 0.01% better than yesterday and that my friend is nothing but progress. That is to ‘be’. And that is the greatest gift as you are alive and kicking.

But aren’t we supposed to be perfect – the best spouse, parent, sibling, child, friend that ever walked on the earth. Yes you are but sadly being the complex human ‘being’ that you are it would take many a lifetimes to be there. So you do you and you be you. Here and now, rather than waiting to be the elusive epitome of perfectionism. It’s a mirage so rather live for today than worry for tomorrow.

  • The right time

Is there ever a right time? Or rather can the timing ever be wrong? To action, to grow, to be yourself? To move out of the comfort zone, to feel the pain, to have those difficult conversations? To hustle, to sweat, to ache?

Or is now the best time? Or is today the best day? Or here is the best place to be?

  • Work : Boon or Bane

The West sometimes treats work like a punishment. Do your tasks and get out of the work mode faster than you can imagine. The concept of earning faster, living frugal and retiring early have been a rage for quite some time now.

But wonder what one would do if one doesn’t ‘work’? Imagine a life where you have no purpose of formal work to drive you. What would you do with the 8-9 hours at hand daily? Well you could spend an hour or two on your physical well being, another hour on your spiritual or mental well being. A couple of hours daily on household chores, which still leaves one with half a ‘work’ day and no more hobbies to pursue or quality time to spend with near dear ones.

Work need not be worship. There could be an 8 hour work day or a 4 hour work day – and sometimes even a zero hour work day. But treating work sacred can give life a vision for the future, a sense of being useful to humankind and a source of real human connections in this fleeting world. Thereby I say, all play and no work would make Jane a dull girl too.

  • Sports maketh a man

They say all work and no playing makes Jack a dull boy. Indeed apart from the exercise it imparts to the body, it shapes the mind profoundly too.

The virtues of discipline, focus and fairness are foundational to sports. Whether played as an individual player or a team, one way or the other, sports do shape one’s character.

Some play to win, while others play to learn. Take your pick and make at least one game your way of life. Adds lightness to your stride and years to your life.
