  • First Love Yourself

Humans are social beings. But being social is often mistaken to being dependent.

A self-reliant and self-assured person can make better connections with others. Connections that meaningfully resonate, last a lifetime and are fulfilling to both parties.

In a nutshell be thy best friend and companion – no one’s coming to rescue you.

  • (Un) Social Butterfly

    There are the social butterflies.

    There are the anti-social loners.

And then there are unsocial beings, who crave to be both but are neither.

They enjoy company in discrete doses but also adore solitude in measured quantities.

They are not the heart of the party nor the sore thumb sitting in a dark corner.

They blend in and blend out with ease. Choosing to flutter, choosing to go into the cocoon – all by their own will and might 😎

  • Lazy faire

Lazy are the people who have enormous energy and ambition. It’s just that they channelize it just right. Precise utilization actually makes them more effective and efficient than most others. These spurts of productivity leave others with amazement.

So now you know how that GenZ employee brought in the brilliant idea at the eleventh hour or how that pot-bellied, 9-5 routine following middle aged accountant cracked the formulae just in time for the CFO review. Laziness can lead to accidental greatness 😉

  • Empaths

Empathy is quite a buzzword for leadership. Does it mean being sensitive and warm rather than uptight and cold? Would too much empathy be mistaken for meekness and indecisiveness?

The gift of empathy tends to make one emotional but the lack of it is worse as it makes one mechanical. So make small talk, check on an ailing colleague, loop back on the favor you promised – let empathy complement your talents and skills. Afterall people matter 🙂

  • Money == Everything

Don’t believe it? Let me prove how.

Earning your own money gives you financial independence to have saving-spending-splurging habits on your own terms. Bringing in a paycheck helps build security for your future & a retirement nest for your sunset years.

Apart from direct monetary benefits, being a breadwinner empowers you to have a say in major decisions of your family. It’s gives you strength and confidence to prioritise your time & resources the way you want. So dearies, keep earning not to build just your finances but also your confidence, self esteem and the courage to be your true self.

  • Now or Never

Whatever your mode of work; stay wary of the propoganda that retirement is the period to fulfill one’s dreams. I am fully supportive of retirement but since life is here & now why wait. Rather live your dreams today onwards.

A lot of our time (& resources) would be drained by the time we turn 60 – loss of muscoskeletal strength, cognitive alertness and even finances which would have been aptly spent in raising a family. One thing in plenty would be time at hand and the will to spend it your own way; but the folks to spend it with maybe handful, or sadly even none 💔

Let’s start living our passions, dreams, hobbies and endeavours from today. Better start a 10% today than wait a 100% for later!

  • Art of dettachment

Life is a series of interactions strung together with situations. Staying attached with our true inner self becomes difficult in this journey. Rather one tends to get attached to others, makes oneself appear weaker and needy.

Practising dettachment requires higher self control. It’s about striking the balance between our duties and restraining from overtly investing into them. Being neutral helps one focus on one’s ‘chi’ and reduce the suffering which comes with life 🙏

  • Marriage Story

I bet never have you come across any piece of art titled that! Save that brilliant movie which captures the pains of a separation.

But no series, movie, book captures the essence of what happens happily ever after. Where the ‘reel’ love story ends and the real life begins. Where two individuals start co-existing, discovering each other’s blind spots and navigating couple goals. Not all roses, not all thorns. Now that the journey has gotten rolling, better take the scenic route buddy!

  • Befriend you demons

Yes they come haunting; the demons; more often than not. To uproot your present reality, remind you of the past scars and sometimes promise you unreal future.

But you can be stronger than you think you are. So spin them around to reinforce your past – good, bad or ugly. Emerge resilient to face the decisions you took and own them. Living up a 100% to your decisions is a myth, so, stay rooted in reality and give yourself a pay on the back for achieving even 50%. Afterall, no one can live in your shoes permanently, save you!

  • The eyes of the beholder

That’s where beauty lies, right? Similarly, being able to enjoy the arts is also a subtle art in itself. Here appreciation stems from the refined taste of the one consuming it – whether it’s by listening, viewing or reading it. Appreciation for art especially the classical forms can be a lesson in patience. Ever yawned while reading a well known classic book and blamed the weird English or slow pace of the storyline – been there, done that.

Try slowing down and seeing through the beauty of how a few carefully placed brush strokes can create a wonderous marvel on canvas. Or how striking co-ordinated notes can bring music to the ears. Or how stringing words together can bring out the emotions in a prose.

It’s about looking beyond the everyday chaos and tuning in beyond the daily noise to be able to find art in mundane. I won’t say it’s refined or acquired taste but prioritization of where one wants to spend their idle time
